Lab 2:

1. The following two questions on graphical addition are based on the following simulation video.

Procedure I
On the simulation, set the magnitude and direction of force F1 (300 g at 30 degrees) and force F2 (200 g at 110 deg) on the sliders. Then by trial and error find the magnitude and direction of the sum vector (red) using the sliders of the sum vector. Remember the sum vector is the vector that connects the tail of the first vector to the head of the second vector.

13. 1. The following 2 questions are based on a simulation video of a force table.

Procedure III
Using the sliders set the magnitude and direction of the forces F1 (300g = 0.3 kg and 30 deg) and F2 (200 g = 0.2 kg and 110 deg). The goal is to find the force that ballances the sum of the two forces. It is the opposite of the sum force. To find the balancing force, you have to adjust the magnitude and direction sliders of the opposite force to match the center of the orange ring with the center of the force table.

The magnitude of the sum of the forces F1 and F2 obtained from the force table is closer to ...

14. Procedure III
The direction of the sum of the forces F1 and F2 obtained from the force table is closer to (Remember you have to subtract 180 deg from the direction of the opposite force to get the direction of the sum force.)
